Job Description
Hill College is seeking a Head of Experimental Learning, a leadership position responsible for encouraging unconventional, creative and exploratory approaches to learning across the Hill College community. This role recognises that some of the most valuable learning experiences occur when individuals are given the opportunity to test ideas, challenge assumptions and discover what happens when something does not go entirely according to plan.
The Head of Experimental Learning will develop and support learning experiences that encourage students and staff to explore new concepts through experimentation, trial and error. The role will promote an environment where individuals are comfortable asking unusual questions, attempting new approaches and learning from unexpected outcomes. While not every experiment will produce the intended result, the position ensures that every outcome provides an opportunity for reflection and improvement.
The successful candidate will collaborate across academic programs, student leadership and community initiatives to introduce experimental approaches into learning and development. They will support individuals and teams in developing new ideas, testing alternative solutions and evaluating the results of their work. The role will also encourage a culture where failure is treated as a valuable source of information rather than simply an unsuccessful outcome.
This position requires an innovative and adaptable leader who is comfortable with uncertainty, enjoys exploring unconventional ideas and can confidently explain why attempting something that may not work can sometimes be the most effective way to learn.
